June 6th of this year. The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Addis Ababa, together with the Russian Embassy in Ethiopia, held an event dedicated to the Day of the Russian Language, which was organized at the headquarters of the UN Office in Ethiopia.
The event was opened by the Director of Public Relations of the UN Headquarters in Ethiopia A. Cisse and the Ambassador of Russia E.E. Terekhin.
As part of the cultural program of the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the photo exhibition of the RCSC about the creators of the Russian alphabet and Russian sights recognized by UNESCO as a world and cultural heritage. Great interest was attracted to the book with the works of A.S. Pushkin in Amharic language from the library of the RCSC, published by the Russian World Foundation with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo under the guidance of the chief editor M. Volpe.
The audience gathered with a special warmth and greeted the performance of the artistic collective of compatriots "Fatherland" at the RCSC, who prepared dance and vocal numbers of Russian folklore especially for this event.
At the end of the cultural program for guests a buffet of Russian dishes was organized and the opportunity to purchase Russian souvenirs from the collection of Russian souvenirs of our compatriots. During the reception, all guests unanimously spoke about the high level of the event and the information content of the event.
The event lasted about 4 hours, there were employees of the UN office, employees of foreign diplomas. missions, the Ethiopian community, local media.
